Compare the2026 Jeep ReconVS 2027 Volvo EX60

2026 Jeep Recon
2027 Volvo EX60

Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Recon. But it costs extra on the EX60.

The Jeep Recon’s 360-degree camera has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Volvo EX60 lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the Recon and the EX60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Jeep Recon weighs 1096 to 1451 pounds more than the Volvo EX60. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Recon 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Volvo covers the EX60. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the EX60 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 8 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Volvo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Recon’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep above average in initial quality. With 72 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is rated below average.

Engine

The Recon’s electric motors produces 281 more horsepower (650 vs. 369) and 266 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 354) than the EX60 P6’s standard electric motor. The Recon’s electric motors produces 147 more horsepower (650 vs. 503) and 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 524) than the EX60 P10’s standard electric motors. The Recon’s electric motors produces 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 583) than the EX60 P12’s standard electric motors.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Recon’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the EX60:

Rear Rotors

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Recon has larger tires than the EX60 (265/70R18 vs. 235/55R20). The Recon’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the EX60 (265/70R18 vs. 255/45R21).

The Recon has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the EX60; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Recon is .8 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the EX60.

For greater off-road capability the Recon has a 2.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the EX60 (9.1 vs. 7 inches), allowing the Recon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Recon has 1.3 inches more front headroom, 2 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear legroom, 1.9 inches more rear hip room and 3.5 inches more rear shoulder room than the EX60.

Cargo Capacity

The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EX60 with its rear seat up (30.3 vs. 18.5 cubic feet). The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EX60 with its rear seat folded (65.9 vs. 64.3 cubic feet).

A standard locking center console keeps your small valuables safer in the Recon. The EX60 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Ergonomics

The Recon’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The EX60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Recon’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The EX60’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the Recon is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The EX60’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Recon has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EX60.

Compared to the Volvo EX60, the Jeep Recon eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the overhead console.

The Recon has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The EX60 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
